UROS — cutting-edge customer-centered design

Technology company UROS wanted to gain a better understanding of its challenges and opportunities in customer-oriented design. Loihde Factor carried out a design readiness level study for UROS to help the company make better use of design methods, both in service design and in the development of internal functions.

The challenge

Founded in Oulu, UROS creates modern Internet of Things (IoT) solutions that connect people and devices intelligently. The company is one of Finland’s greatest success stories: in a short time, it has become a multibillion-dollar company partnering with the world’s largest tech giants.

One of the cornerstones of UROS’ success is a strong desire to develop with a customer-centered mindset and to constantly create better services for customers. To fully understand its strengths and development potential in this area, UROS set out to gain an overview of its situation with the help of Loihde Factor’s experts.

The solution

Our experts carried out a design readiness level study for UROS to help understand the level of design and customer orientation throughout the company. By understanding the role of design in the company in more detail, it will also be easier to direct actions and resources towards even more customer-oriented operations.

In the study, UROS’ level of design orientation was examined from the perspectives of culture, customer-oriented practices and design practices. The battery of questions formed from studying these areas highlights the company’s main practical challenges for design-driven operations. In addition, our experts formulated practical guidelines to help UROS reach the next level and make design an increasingly integral part of all its operations.

The customer was very satisfied with the research, as it highlighted clear development targets and strengths in their design work. The basic information and practical insights gained from the research make it easy for the company to progress towards its future goals.
